It's a well known fact that cartoons aren't just for kids. In fact, producers of Disney and Pixel flicks have stated point blank that they make cartoons for kids that parents can enjoy as well, since parents are the ones taking their children to the theater and having to sit through the movie with them.

They do this by including overt dialogue or hidden messages that will fly right over the heads of children but will entertain and amuse adults, making the cinematic experience easier to enjoy.

Other movies, like Tim Burton's "Nightmare Before Christmas" have a

primarily adult cult following, the characters of Jack, Sally, the ghost dog Zero, and the mischievous threesome Lock, Shock and Barrel appearing repeatedly in permanent ink. Clicking through the thumbnails of BMEzine's cartoon tattoos section, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" makes up nearly 1/4 of all the images featured there.

Cartoon television shows are popular choices as well when it comes to tattoo ideas. Nickelodeon's "Spongebob Squarepants", "Powerpuff Girl" or the Fox channel's "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy" have bright, humorous or empowering characters that translate great as tattoos. Even video game characters make an appearance, especially the Godfather of all digital games -- Mario, often seen along with his brother, Luigi, or arch enemy, Bowser.

Hello Kitty seems to be a favorite amongst young girls, while scenes from Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree" continue to show up on the ribcages of young men. The cutesy drawings of emo artist Kurt Halsey have appeared in so many tattoos that I even wrote a hub about it: Kurt Halsey Fan Tattoos

Of course, there will always be tattoos of the standard, original cartoons: Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, Tigger, Snoopy and Winnie the Pooh. Classic films like "Alice in Wonderland" beget classic tattoos of Alice, the Cheshire Cat and the hookah-smoking caterpillar whereas classic books by Dr. Seuss yield images of the infamous Cat in the Hat.

Cartoons evoke nostalgic memories of childhood as well as teach important lessons. No matter how old you get, there is something about the innocence of cartoons and the characters they portray that will always ring true

How many times have I seen the words "love" and "hate" tattooed across the knuckles of each hand? Honestly, I've lost count. It's fairly common placement for a fairly common phrase, and although it fascinated me the first time I saw it, it has now grown old and tiresome. Luckily, there is always a new wave come to bring in the tide, and along with it flows a plethora of fresh ideas when it comes to hand tattoos. My girlfriend, for example, has the first initial of her ex's name tattooed on her ring finger -- they did this in lieu of exchanging rings and getting engaged like normal people. Obviously, they broke up in the end, and it would've been a much easier engagement

to dissolve had they just been able to remove a metal ring from around their fingers and store it in a jewelry box; but neither of them regret their decision nor wish to cover the tat (much to my dismay, when I am feeling selfish and not thinking logically) even though the tattoo is located on a very prominent body part.

Perhaps this is why so many people choose to imprint words and messages on their hands. Other than your face, your hands are the feature you put forward first. We shake hands when meeting and greeting, high five when we're happy and give the thumbs up sign when we've accomplished something, so it makes sense to tattoo our ideals on the body part we use to communicate ideas with. Of course, images can be placed on hands as well, and you'll be amazed at the inventive and extraordinary things people can think up when it comes to body modification: a palm that opens to reveal a third eye, two halves of one heart that only form a whole when the hands are clasped together in prayer, letters on the insides of the knuckles rather than the outside and much, much more.

Tattoos are no longer just for men. And since tattoos have moved into mainstream culture, the area of female tattoos has also grown drastically, though they were initially considered socially unacceptable for women. But now, In fact, there are more female tattoo artists, tattoo designs and even shops are starting to cater to a more female clientele.

The era of the celebrity has accelerated the acceptance of tattoos of women; stars like Angelina Jolie, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears have helped to make them cool, sought after and accepted.

Of course most women want to go with a feminine design that will add a beautiful touch to their body. So they choose tattoo designs that are usually much prettier and a bit smaller than tattoos for men.

Some of the most popular tattoo designs for women include a butterfly, a flower or a Celtic design. Styles such as Japanese tattoos, Indian/Hindu tattoos, anime, traditional American and floral designs are raising the bar higher and higher and becoming increasingly popular.

One of the best places to look for tattoo designs for women is at an online tattoo gallery. Online galleries display all kinds of body art and tattoos from ancient times right up until the present, and allow you to shop for a unique tattoo at your own convenience.

Tattoo galleries for women are dedicated to the displaying and working of feminine body tattoos. These galleries are sorted by topic and subject, so whether you want to take a look at lower back tattoos or tattoos of well known celebrities, you can usually find it there. Today, women are slowly going for larger tattoos such as stars, hearts, roses and tribal tattoo designs on the lower back.

A few extremely helpful tips on how to take care of yourself while choosing a tattoo artist. There is nothing worse than walking home with an infected tattoo. That is the best case scenario when it comes to faulty tattoos while the worse case scenario is where you end up with some life threatening disease. These tips give the soon-to-be-inked a few ideas on what to look for when approaching a tattoo artist for a tattoo. Where the

tattoo artist performs his/her craft is not as important as the cleanliness and professionalism shown by the artist.

One precaution to take is to ensure proper placement and retrieval of the needles. The tips, an important piece of the machine, must be maintained and sanitized properly. The workspace must be well maintained and free of trash and leftovers as it has much to do with the artists ability to keep everything else clean. The scarring from a tattoo can be kept to minimal if aftercare instructions are followed precisely.

As far as the artist goes, try to avoid a heavy handed person as that style tends to leave more scars than a lighter handed person. I would still recommend going to an artist who was recommended to you by a good friend instead of going to a shop and getting tattooed by a stranger who probably does not care about you and your well being.

All activities in life carry some type of risk, but most disasters can be avoided by taking certain precautions, and tattooing is no different. Please read carefully as it may save your life.

If you're considering a tattoo but aren't quite yet committed enough to take the jump and go permanent, there are a few other alternatives available to you. It is important to know, however, that when looking for a true "try-before-you-buy" tattoo option, semi-permanent tattoos simply do not exist. The only real alternatives to

permanent tattoos are henna tattoos which usually fade in about 4 weeks or stick on tattoos which often disappear within 7 days. If you're extremely creative, however, you may do a little experimenting with permanent markers or crayons.

Henna Tattoos
A great way to try out your design is with a Henna tattoo. Henna is a natural dye that is derived from a plant.

The dye will typically begin to fade after about a week. In most cases, it will completely disappear within 4 weeks. Henna stencils can be applied to any part of the body and typically do not cause any skin irritations. The only real downside to using Henna is that it is not available in different colors. Although it is possible to mix various shades of Henna, it naturally appears orange on the skin and darkens to a reddish brown color within about 48 hours.

There are also several companies that are currently marketing a "black henna" product. Warnings about this product are extensive and its use could potentially cause severe side effects.
The product that is currently being marketed as "Black Henna" is actually a substance called para-phenylendiamine or PPD, which is really black hair dye. Although some of these products may contain henna, most do not.

Stick-on Temporary Tattoos
Although most adults associate stick-on tattoos with the postage stamp variety that usually came with the bubble gum wrapper and washed off with water, these temporary alternatives to permanent tattoos have truly evolved and the variety of sizes and designs available may come as a surprise to most consumers. The temporary tattoos available on the market today actually use vegetable dyes and an adhesive that we normally find in Band-Aids.

These tattoos not only look realistic but will actually stay on for up to three weeks. While it's much less expensive to purchase these tattoos in bulk, individual prices vary depending on the size and design. A 5x9 inch armband dragon tattoo in one color for example, can be purchased online for as little as 50 cents.

Most shops will also custom design your temporary tattoo; however, they usually require a minimum purchase for custom work.

Air Brush Tattoos

While we've all seen the airbrushed t-shirts and paintings at the booths at the fair, airbrush tattoos are also becoming extremely popular as an alternative to permanent tattoos. Using the same process as is used with t-shirts, a stencil is placed on the skin and an airbrush sprayer is used to fill in the color.

Although the design normally only lasts about a week, airbrushing is considered to be the technique that produces an end product most closely resembling the look of an actual permanent tattoo. Airbrush tattoos are more expensive than stick-on tattoos but are nowhere near the cost of a permanent design. Prices for airbrush tattoos normally range anywhere from $20 to $100.

Other options

If none of the options above are quite what you're looking for in a temporary tattoo, you can always draw on your own. Permanent markers work great for temporary designs that you can create yourself or apply using a stencil, while Crayola washable markers are a simple way to try out a design or location that can be removed immediately.

When it comes to temporary tattoos and body art, the possibilities are only limited by your own imagination. Adding a little body glitter or a few stick-on crystals can add to the originality of your artwork. One thing is guaranteed - nobody else will be sporting a look-a-like!

Flower tattoos are becoming very popular particularly among women who often see their tattoo as an extra accessory. Many women choose to have a tattoo because they think of it as having a piece of artwork that you can have with you wherever you go.

Flowers have their own individual meanings and it is a good idea to find the meaning behind the flower that you choose. An increasing number of women choose the lotus flower as a tattoo. The Lotus flower

has a long history and in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions it is seen as a sign of waking to a spiritual reality. Most tattoo artists feel that the lotus flower is emblematic of life in general because if starts off in mud and turns into something beautiful.

Many people who have had a rough time of things will sometimes have a lotus tattoo as a symbol of the fact that they are coming out of the other side of trouble. Lotus flowers are also quite important in Japanese symbolism. Japanese tattoo artists will work with lotus flowers, sometimes combining them with koi fish as the two things are often found together in the ponds in front of Japanese temples.

Flower tattoos come in all shapes and sizes. Until recent years many women who had a flower tattoo would have it placed somewhere on the body that was normally covered by clothing. Nowadays society has a far more open attitude to women with tattoos. A rose can signify eternal love and beauty but if the rose is black or is entangled with barbed wire then it tends to have a darker meaning.

Many women start with small flower tattoos and then add to their body art over time. Hawaiian flower tattoos are worn by both women and men they might be a yellow Hibiscus or a flowery orchid. The Hibiscus flower comes in red or yellow and is often accompanied by a rose in body art. Tattoos are extremely popular in Hawaii and it is not unusual to see both men and women sporting tattoos. Women tend towards the floral designs whereas men seem to prefer tribal design tattoos.

One of the biggest attractions of flower tattoos is the fact that they tend not to date and will probably just as popular in twenty years as they are now. Some women have a floral tattoo around the navel or on the ankle bone. Many women like their tattoos custom designed and so they will take an ordinary flower and add their own adornments to it so that they finish up with a tattoo that is uniquely theirs.

The beauty and delicate nature of cherry blossom makes it a popular choice for many women who want a tattoo. Cherry blossom is heavy with significance in both Chinese and Japanese cultures. The Chinese regard cherry blossom as a symbol of female power and at the same time as a symbol of love. In Japan on the other hand the cherry blossom signifies the transience of life.

In today's day and age, most women and girls have great looking tattoos and the popularity of tattoos in women is continuing to increase every single day. One probable reason is celebrity endorsements. It's ordinary to see many female celebrities

with tattoos and that is considered fashion these days.

It appears that women ink tattoos when they've experienced some kind of major life change in a lot of cases. Those changes can range from the death of a loved one to marriage to childbirth or a breakup with her boyfriend.

So what are the most popular tattoos for women? The choices are endless when women choose tattoo designs for inking. It seems anything floral, tribal designs across the lower back, fairies, unicorns, butterflies and Dolphins are tattoo for women.

Lower back Tattoo for woman
The beautiful curves and graceful feminine shapes of a woman's body all seem to converge in the lower back. Like a signature on an exquisite violin, a tail bone tattoo design becomes a beautiful adornment on any women body. Often a lower back design will be specially shaped to accentuate and flatter the hourglass shape of woman. Whether you are picture a tattoo design of an angel, sun, butterfly or dolphin the lower back can be the perfect spot.

Butterfly Tattoo for woman
Butterflies captivate our imaginations and have attracted countless women to permanently decorate their skin. Perhaps it is the infinite variety in pattern and color that makes them so popular. Maybe it is the way their bright and beautiful wings show a flash of color as they take flight and dance with a freedom and lightness that we can only imagine.

Fairy Tattoo for woman
Fairy tattoos can be tiny little designs, hidden on a hip or on a shoulder of women. Or they can be large images, rendered as a singular design, or your fairy can be part of a larger scene, possibly with the aforementioned unicorn or peeking out from behind a flowering branch. Often the wings allow the design to be fitted well to the shape of the upper arm or lower leg of women.

There are also many other designs suitable for women wearing such as phoenix, Chinese symbols, heart tattoo and so on. Choose among different designs that you think suits your personality.

Where to Find Perfect tattoo Designs for women ?
